Praia do Bilene

Bilene is a very small town with a lot to offer. A lake separates it from the sea, with an amazing beach in between.

I stayed with Filipe here, a really cool Portuguese guy who showed us around the area. On the road from Maputo to Bilene he explained Solene and me that in Mozambique it’s completely normal that the police stop you several times on the road to check your car or ask for your ID and then ask for money or they don’t give it back (consider it a toll fee). Bilene has a small market with colorful clothes and handicraft. The food was great too, especially the rise with coconut milk.

On the weekend we went to barbecue and farewells of friends of Filipe. The last day we went to a lighthouse with an extraordinary view and by the Limpopo River’s mouth. I’ll let the pictures speak for themselves

The day was cloudy but the views were amazing nevertheless. It did start pouring the by the time we were getting a combi to Xai Xai.
